Kristin Hammarberg – världsinvånare som gjort norrland och Luleå till hemma.
Möt norrbottensbon och ingenjören som väldigt snart släpper sin första ABC-barnbok med charmiga illustrationer. Hon har redan flera norrländska guldkort till som hon ruvar på.
Det sägs att nya platser gör dig mer kreativ – isåfall var det bara en tidsfråga innan ingenjören Kristin Hammarberg skulle testa sina vingar som författande illustratör. Hon är född i de västgötska skogarna, uppvuxen i Sudan och känner sig som hemma i Göteborg. Men sedan 10 år tillbaka är Kristin bosatt i Luleå samtidigt som hon har sin arbetsplats i Piteå.
Kristin berättar att hennes familj var missionärer som periodvis bodde i Sudan. Där fick hon uppleva kristen tro i praktiken och möta människor som var olika henne själv, fast ändå inte, och det har gjort en stor inverkan på den person hon är idag. När de kom hem började hon högstadiet och efter gymnasiet styrdes stegen mot norr. – Jag drogs dit av naturen och hittade en utbildning i teknisk design. En mix mellan ingenjörsyrket och design. Nu har jag ett roligt jobb i Piteå där jag får jobba som designer och konceptutvecklare. Det är väldigt roligt att visualisera, berättar Kristin. Det skissas mycket på jobbet när Kristin hjälper andra att förklara projekt och händelseförlopp.
När Kristin blev mammaledig fick kreativiteten bubbla vidare på hemmaplan istället. Medan sonen Eliam sov passade Kristin på att bli mer hemmafixig och göra allt man aldrig hinner. Hon lärde sig sy, måla akvarell och baka.
Kristin berättar att det var tillkomsten av hennes son Eliam som kickade igång hennes barnbokspassion. När grabben växte litegrann och barnböckerna plockades ner från bokhyllan väcktes tankar kring barnböcker och deras enkla, kraftfulla och färgstarka illustrationer. En ganska rolig målgrupp, för barnböckerna ska på samma gång tilltala vuxna.
Kristin lät bokstundernas intryck följa med in i stunderna med akvarell. Allt började med w, och 28 bokstäver senare hade hon illustrerat innehållet till sin debutbok: W som i wienerkorv. En ABC-bok som kommer bli de perfekta startkablarna för en konversation med de som är 0-3 år gamla. Det som började med inspiration för att ha något att måla, blev så mycket mer. – Jag kan knappt tro det. Det bara hände.
Medan vi samtalar är snön meterhög utanför fönstret, och Kristin väntar på norrbottniska vårtecken; solljus och dripp, dropp från taket. Högt flygande drömmar är inte Kristins melodi. Istället berättar hon att hon drömmer små drömmar. Det stora finns i det vardagliga. – Allt det lilla känner jag är jättemycket roligare. Jag ser framemot att vara med när min son växer upp, att ha roligt på jobbet och utvecklas kreativt.
På Arans Förlag är vi nyfikna på att se vad Kristin Hammarberg ska utmana sig själv med härnäst. För oss är det särskilt roligt att välkomna Kristin – det var nämligen hennes farfar som startade Arans, som från början var en marsipanfabrik.
Valet av motiv till varje bokstav var inte så lätt. Men varje bokstav har något att säga.
